Pagani Huayra - now heading for the USA in 2013
At the weekend we broke the news that Pagani were not going to be able to take the Huayra to the US for the foreseeable future, as they’d had their application for a Temporary Exemption from Advanced Air Bag Requirements denied by the DOT. Which we’ve known was likely for months. So we asked why Pagani continued with its US launch and continued taking orders for cars it knew, almost certainly, it wouldn’t be able to complete.

When Ford divested itself of its premier marques – Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover – it left it with little wriggle room to compete in anything but the mainstream car market. Ford in Europe is trying to address that by launching ‘Vignale’ badged cars which promise to offer more ‘Premium quality’ than its mainstream models, and Ford in the US is doing the same thing by trying to reinvent the Lincoln badge as the answer to German premium models. Volvo Car Corp. will take full ownership of a Swedish car assembly joint venture that it started eight years ago with Italy's Pininfarina S.p.A. Volvo said it will assume responsibility for Pininfarina Sverige AB and its operations in Uddevalla, Sweden, in May 2013.
